WASHINGTON, D.C. – Representative Adam Smith (D-Wash.), Ranking Member of the House Armed Services Committee, today issued the following statement in response to Iran’s multi-pronged attacks on Israel.

“I join President Biden in reiterating that the United States’ support for Israel’s security is ironclad and that we will continue to stand with the people of Israel.

“U.S. forces have already intercepted Iranian drones and remain postured to provide continuing support to Israel. I urge calm and restraint during this incredibly tense and challenging time. We need to reduce the risk of further escalation and work to ensure that this conflict does not spread.

“I have no doubt that Israel will remain resilient in the face of this challenge as we continue to stand with them now and going forward.
