WASHINGTON, D.C. – Representative Adam Smith (D-Wash.), Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, today issued the following statement on the passing of former Senator Carl Levin, long-time member of the Senate Armed Services Committee.
“Today we mourn the loss of a true public servant in Senator Levin who was an effective, thoughtful policy maker. More importantly, he was a good and decent human who will be missed by many. As Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, his commitment to the men and women of our military was unwavering, and so too was his commitment to our values as a country. When I first became Ranking Member of the House Armed Services Committee, then Chairman Levin was an outstanding example of the right way to lead and make policy. It was a privilege to count him as a colleague and friend.”
