Washington, DC – Today, House Armed Services Committee Ranking Member Adam Smith (D-WA) released the following statement in remembrance of the anniversary of September 11, 2001:

“Today marks 15 years since the day terrorists took the lives of 2,977 innocent Americans in attacks on the United States. The shock and pain of that loss is still vivid for us, as are our memories of the courageous and heroic acts of first responders who gave their lives to save others.

“We must never forget those abominable events. We must also honor the examples of those we lost, and their families, by remaining steadfast and united in our efforts to defend the United States against similar threats to our security.”
