WASHINGTON, DC – Reps. Adam Smith (D-WA) and Mac Thornberry (R-TX), respectively Ranking Member and Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee today unveiled the schedule for the Committee’s consideration of the FY 2019 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). Known as a “markup,” the Committee will follow its traditional process of open meetings to consider this essential national security legislation. The FY19 NDAA will be the 58th consecutive defense authorization act passed by Congress. Earlier this month, Chairman Thornberry and Ranking Member Smith submitted their views and estimates to the House Budget Committee (link), an early step in assembling the NDAA. House Armed Services Committee Subcommittees will consider their contributions to the NDAA on Thursday, April 26th at the following times:
9:00 AM — Subcommittee on Readiness Markup
10:00 AM — Subcommittee on Emerging Threats and Capabilities Markup
11:00 AM — Subcommittee on Military Personnel Markup
12:30 PM — Subcommittee on Tactical Air and Land Forces Markup
1:30 PM — Subcommittee on Seapower and Projection Forces Markup
3:00 PM — Subcommittee on Strategic Forces Markup
The full committee will consider the Chairman’s mark on Wednesday, May 9th, beginning at 10:00 AM.
