WASHINGTON, D.C. – Representative Adam Smith (D-Wash.), Ranking Member of the House Armed Services Committee, issued the following statement after President Joe Biden signed H.R. 2670, the Fiscal Year 2024 National Defense Authorization Act (FY24 NDAA), into law.

“President Biden’s signing of the bipartisan, bicameral FY24 NDAA underscores our ironclad commitment to the core of our national defense: service members, civilian workers, and their families; innovation and technology; allies and partners; and our defense industrial base and military readiness.

“I would like to thank President Biden; the senior leaders of the Department of Defense, Department of Energy and National Nuclear Security Administration; and my colleagues, U.S. Representative Mike Rogers (R-Ala.), Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, and U.S. Senators Jack Reed (D-R.I.) and Roger Wicker (R-Miss.), Chairman and Ranking Member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, for all of their work this year. I’m pleased to see this bill signed in to law, which reflects a longstanding tradition of hard-fought compromise to provide for a strong national defense that advances U.S. priorities at home and around the world.”
