WASHINGTON, D.C. – Representative Adam Smith (D-Wash.), Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, today issued the following statement before the House of Representatives began its consideration of H.R. 7900, the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2023 (FY23).

"For 61 consecutive years, the Congress has passed a bipartisan NDAA that invests in the people, programs, and technologies that strengthen our common defense. This year’s House bill builds on this tradition by supporting initiatives that will expand the talent pipeline, accelerate the development of cutting-edge technologies, and support the highest pay raise for service members in decades. I look forward to the House’s consideration of the NDAA, which serves as a crucial vehicle for the American people’s elected representatives in Congress to shape our country’s national security policy and priorities."

Tracking the Floor Debate

The House Armed Services Committee will maintain a dynamic floor tracker for amendments to the FY23 NDAA. The tracker will display a list of upcoming amendments and the order in which they will be considered, as well as a list of already-considered amendments and their outcomes. The list is for convenience purposes only and is subject to change.

Later today, the floor tracker will be available on the committee’s NDAA Resources Center, and a summary of H.R. 7900 can be found here.

Please visit the Rules Committee website for the complete list of submitted amendments and their descriptions.
