Washington, D.C. – Today, House Armed Services Committee Ranking Member Adam Smith (D-WA) made the following statement:

“Today marks the 76th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. This is a solemn occasion to remember the bravery of all who fought and the sacrifices of those who lost their lives. It is also a time to honor everything our soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines fought for in World War II. Their efforts produced a better world for their children and grandchildren, in which the United States repudiated isolationism and stood up for hope, freedom, and global security through a commitment to engagement, alliances, and partnerships across the globe. We must continue to remember those hard-learned lessons today as we provide for the defense of the United States.”
