WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Representative Adam Smith (D-Wash.), Ranking Member of the House Armed Services Committee, released the following statement regarding President Biden’s nomination of U.S. Air Force Gen. Charles “CQ” Brown as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
“Gen. Brown is eminently qualified to serve as the next chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. He is well-suited to become the principal military adviser to the President and the Secretary of Defense on the myriad challenges we face, including those posed by China, Russia, North Korea, Iran, and violent extremist organizations. I commend President Biden for making this well-deserved nomination, and I urge my colleagues in the Senate to approve his nomination without delay.”
