Washington D.C. – In light of the recent turmoil in Western Africa, including instability in Mali and Boko Haram’s activities in Nigeria, House Armed Services Committee Ranking Member, Congressman Adam Smith (WA-09), will give a speech providing insights into how the United States be a positive force for stability in the region.
The speech, titled “Building Partner Capacity in West Africa,” will take place at the Wilson Center on Tuesday, April 16th in the 6th floor Flom Auditorium from 9-10:30am.
Smith will discuss challenges, as well as opportunity for expanding mutually beneficial partnerships that promote stability, security and economic growth in Western Africa. Bolstering the security capabilities of our African partners will help them confront mutual threats and improve their governance abilities, breeding stability and creating space for economic growth in the region.
