Washington, D.C. – Today, House Armed Services Committee Ranking Member Adam Smith (D-WA) made the following statement about the recent U.S. air strikes against ISIL camps in Libya:

“Last night, working in conjunction with the Government of Libyan National Accord, the U.S. military conducted p‎recision air strikes against two ISIL camps in Libya. These camps served as bases for ISIL fighters to regroup after U.S. forces successfully supported the Libyan military in freeing the city of Sirte late last year. Without these actions, the ISIL fighters would have continued to threaten the Libyan military and civilians in Sirte. These strikes underscore our determination to oppose ISIL's activities in Libya and worldwide.”
